Thinking Out Loud

November is here at last, and maybe a little bit of fall is headed our way, too. At least we're not in the 100+ degree temperatures anymore.

I haven't made any more progress on Frolic, simply because I'm not 100% sure about the smocking colors. I'm trying to decide if I need to replace the brick red with a green that will blend into the background. If I do it that way, the navy embroidery will really shine. Right now I feel like maybe there's just too much going on with all the colors. If you can jump in here with a comment or suggestion, I'd really appreciate it!

I'm hoping for a really good weekend, sitting here with my fingers crossed hoping my fabric orders will arrive tomorrow.

Thanks in advance for your help with Frolic.

I definitely think it needs another color, just to balance it all out. Plus, my eye finds three colors more appeasing that just two, in any situation.

I wouldn't go with a dark dark green, but a lighter green would work well, I think. The blue is dark and the dress fabric is sunshine-y and playful. So make the top frolic, as well... As frolic-y as the bottom.

I think you'd mentioned an orange a while back in the mix? I want to see that.

You know better than me about what it should look like, but I think the reason you're not absolutely loving it right now is because of balance. The top reads dark, the bottom reads light. And then the top only has two colors right now, and the bottom has several jovial colors.

Add something unexpected to the top. That's just my 2(long)cents.

How about a mellow yellow to go with the red and blue? It will stand out a little more than the green, but won't be as strong as the red and blue. I love you blog and usually just read. Meg :)
