Looking To Spring

Twins Update

She Who Is Pregnant With Twins marks 22 weeks of pregnancy today. No, I don't know what the official time of day it was when that milestone was reached. And I'm not asking, either. There are some things a mother just doesn't want to know, you know?

She's good. Tomorrow I'm going over with the new Southern Living cookbook for her to pick out things she wants to eat next week. Or tomorrow night, even.

The Sewing

Spring will be here before we know it. Where I live, it will probably arrive in three weeks, so it's best to get going on some spring dresses for The Princess, who keeps on growing and growing and growing.

I'm thinking about this one. A lot. It's vintage, of course. Simplicity, 1947. And it should fit, too.

The front:

This has that darling little girl sweetness that I love. It has it all: little round collar, puffed sleeves, gathered waist, buttoned back, tie sash. The bonus on this one is the inverted box pleat at the center front.

The back:

This pattern calls for 35" or 39" fabric. I don't know about you, but it's been a long time since I've seen fabric bolts in that width. But I am old enough to have actually seen it, bought it, and sewn it up in my lifetime.

The pattern suggests that you use lawn, batiste, seersucker, pique, cotton, and taffeta. If that doesn't sound like sugar and spice and everything nice, I don't know what does.

I'm on the hunt for the perfect little stripe, so I can make View 2 with the bias front. Nothing gives you a good headache like a little stripe. I'm game.
